Upgrading from a Mid-2015 MacBook Pro 13: A Review of HDMI Output

In mid-2015, Apple made a significant upgrade to their lineup by switching from traditional GeForce (650M) graphics cards to the latest AMD Radeon chips (R9 M370X 2GB). This change caught my attention, and I decided to take the plunge and purchase the newest 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina. As someone who relies heavily on technology for work, I wanted to experience the benefits of a newer machine.

Upon receiving my new laptop, I was impressed with its performance. However, despite Apple's claims of improved battery life, I found that it didn't quite live up to expectations. The battery still lasted around 3-4 hours, which is decent but not exceptional.

As someone who uses their MacBook extensively for work, I quickly encountered the limits of my new machine. The R9 M370X graphics card, while a significant upgrade over the previous GeForce chip, couldn't handle the demanding tasks that I required. This was particularly frustrating considering that I had been waiting for Apple to release an updated MacPro lineup, which would have provided me with more powerful options.

In hindsight, I should have waited for the newer Intel Skylake CPU, but unfortunately, it wasn't available on the 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina at the time of my purchase. The 13-inch model did receive this upgrade, but I was disappointed that I couldn't take advantage of it.

For those who are like me and prioritize having the latest technology for work or other purposes, the mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina is a decent option. While it may not have been the perfect machine for my needs, it has certainly improved upon previous models. If you're in the market for an upgrade, I would recommend considering this model, but be aware of its limitations and potential drawbacks.
